Suggestions for 6 point Road Race Cage
I'm getting a cage put in my FC for track days, I'm commiting a cardinal sin by doing this on a semi-street car. The car will see about 1000 miles of street driving a year so spare the lecture.
I'm getting a 6 point cage and was wondering for Solo I and track days (HPDE's) what the best kind of tubing, the thickness and any other regulations I should be aware of. I'm thinking of angling the door bars down so they dont get in the way as much.
I want something that ties into the rear "frame rails" and also the shock towers. Here's a pic of my buddy's that I'm thinking of copying. I already looked through the 10 page thread on cages btw...

Stay within the parameters of the SCCA rule book. That way if you decide to sell the vehicle, a person interested in Road Racing would not have to redo the cage to meet the rules. Your buddies cage is nice, but would not meet the IT rules. If you plan on never selling the car, then do what ever you like. Your cage builder can give you ideas also. You may also want to lookin to plating the floor befor you attach the tubes. Looks like there is no plating around the shock tower, can't really tell about the rear floor.

I use a Kirk, I think it is a good value, and well designed. There are pics on my members ride page on TeamFC3s, and on Kirks page. depending on what you can afford a cage built by a competent fabricator in your car using what you have learned on these cages is a good way to go, if you are limited on cash, and are a competent welder, the Kirk is a good choice. your friends cage does not make sense, there is no use for those the connection from the shock tower to the "roll hoop" bracing. IT's simply putting the bracing in bending. If you cna affor dit go with a 0.095 wall thickness 1.5" 4130 cage. But autopower seems to be a popular choice.
