STS2 to CSP

Well, after a year autocrossing on street tires in STS2, I'm getting ready to move into CSP. I plan to hit the big items first: light flywheel, Megasquirt, and race rubber. The tires currently are dual-duty autocross and track day on 15x7 ATS comp lites. The car is an 86 sport (NA), and is pretty much fully prepped for STS2 - GC coilovers, RB sways, urethane bushings, adjustable camber front and rear. The car tends to oversteer rather than understeer (which I like) with the current setup.

What tires will have me competitive (locally, as I generally place top 5%), be fun during HPDEs, yet last long enough to not make me broke?

CSP allows giant rims and tires, but there has to be a diminishing return on the size. I'm planning on 225/50 - is this big enough? Do I want to stagger tire size?

Any input would be appreciated.
Pete

Edit - Rims are a variable - I meant that I currently run 15x7s which most likely will wind up as track wheels. I know that the FC isn't nationally competitive (especially in CSP), but it's what I'm playing with btw, the same could be said about running an FD against Z06s... but I still love reading about it in your GEEZ updates.

If you're going to run CSP on 7" wide wheels you're already doomed!

Get 15X8 ATS DTC Light wheels or SSR Comp 15X7.5 rims at least to run the 225/50/15 rubber.

You must max out the tire/wheel size thing or you will in no way be at the top... RA1s last, work for HPDEs, and get better as they wear. Victoracers(not Ecsta 700s) are faster, and will last almost as long, though they will loose grip with alot of heat cycles. A 235-40-17 will fit up front, and a 255-40-17 will easily fit out back. I did not read CSP rules, so use those widths if the diameter is too big. you can actually fit a wider tire in back, but it will make the car a bit tall. Carl
