any update on a rear upgrade kit?

 

I'm looking as well to upgrade both front and rear brakes on my FD. A Stoptech 355mm ST60 front and ST40 or ST22 rear would be ideal. Any updates? Did they ever fab'd this kit?
I've used Stoptech's BBK (still do in both my race EVO's) with great results. Never a negative issue with them.

Why not stick with the standard StopTech kit then?

 

My current setup is Porsche 993 Turbo Big Red caliper up front and OEM FD3S caliper in the rear. The standard StopTech setup offered today is only an ST40 caliper (4 piston) with a FMSI 447 which is a smaller pad area than my Porsche Big Red
(594). Stoptech has no offering for the rear of the FD which is where I believe my problem lies. I recently went widebody on my FD with a 18"x12" 320mm wide rear slick, which is too much for the little caliper/rotor to handle. On my last event I boiled the brake fluid.
I run the ST60 trophy front and ST40 trophy rear in my EVO RS and would love to have something similar in the FD.

Just a FYI, Blackey (OP) sold his car a couple of years ago. I think someone else will need to spearhead this brake upgrade.

Last I checked, current owner was not happy with the brakes.

 

I would guess he isn't happy with the manual, non abs brakes.

 

The issue is that the car is really (and I mean really) fast now and the front and rear calipers, and or brackets, are flexing and twisting under load. The owner is thinking of a serious upgrade front and rear, but that means lots of bucks.

 

Gotcha. I was going off what the owner between Bill and the current one told me.

 

^That must be Mark. I think he only got the car on track once for a shake down session - either that or that was the last day he ran the car before deciding to sell it. Something like that. He broke the trans and later blew the motor on the same day. At least that is what I remember from talking to him that day at Laguna. Talk about luck...

Iirc, the rear brakes can't get any heat into them and the front brakes get hotter than desired. Pedal feel was an issue as well iirc. Current owner's name is Cameron fwiw.

 

Quick question for you guys, I currently have 340x32 Endless rotors in front and rear and need to get new set of rotors for front, do you guys think I feel the difference and it's really that much downgrade if I get 332x32 rotors for half of the price ?? Any inputs here ??

 

I think it isn't a matter of "feeling" the difference so much as to whether you can physically decrease the diameter of the rotors by 8mm without having the caliper stick too far out and loosing pad contact area with the rotor face. If the caliper can be lowered down by 4mm then it would not be a concern.
