Sizing a Helmet

I don't have anyplace to try one on in store, so how should I size a helmet? I wear a 7 and a quarter hat (all military guys know their head size).

Call around - it is really best if you can try them on first. Different helmets fit different head shapes better than others. I can't imagine that there aren't at least a couple shops in the DC area that would carry SA rated helmets.

Have you tried asking the MSCW guys? http://www.mscw.com/

Good luck,

-bill

I must agree with Bill. Buying a guessed helmet size is BAD NEWS for your head! Unless you have tried on the specific make , model and type of helet you want, you are just guessing. I sold racing equipment for a few years and was amazed at what some people think a good fit is. My suggestion is to find a reputable racing supplier in your area and TRY ON HELMETS. Best to avoid Motorcycle shops if want an SA helmet because they will probably just look at you funny when you ask for an SA. Keep in mind what Bill said about brands, I always had best fitment with Simpson, my wife with Bell. Good luck..... Rex

I just moved back to my po-dunk town in Illinois. I'm still looking for a place that sells anything.

Go to www.impactracingproducts.com or www.racerwholesale.com One of them will have a chart saying how to find the size of your helmet

There's not one motorcycle shop in the area? Try a few on at a motorcycle shop to get an idea. Also, there are some motorcycle helmets that are SA approved, not just M approved.
