hey i was just wondering if a short throw shifter for a 1981 rx7 will work on a 1980 anybody knows let me know

 

Yeah, it should, but I'd give Mazdatrix a call and ask them (mazdatrix.com). This shouldn't be in this section though, try the 1st gen section next time.

EDIT: No wait, it shouldn't. The 79-80 trannys were way different now that I'm actually thinking. In fact, I know that it will not fit unless you want to stick your arm about a foot forward into the center console to shift. Sorry about that.

 

no it will not.. the 81-85 trans have a remote gear box, while the 79-80s donot...
