rotary revolution autox

I'm hooked. I got in 10 runs at the autocross this saturday and it was a blast. I'll definately be doing some SCCA autocross this summer. Anybody else run the course at Rotary Revolution this weekend? what did you think and what was your best time?

Well I didn't run, but I did watch a lot of it. It definately looked like a good time, and I'm glad you had fun doing it........

I had the FTD which was negated due to my hitting a cone in the slow down lane after my run.

The course was a typical Miata Course design. It was very tight and you never were able to get on the gas. I was suprised more 1st gens were not in the top 10 it was definatly a low HP small car course. The only place I was able to really get on the gas was the middle of the long slolam and the final dash for the finish line.

The standing water and cumbling pavement added a whole new dimension of challanges.

It was a pretty good layout although as mentioned very tight. I had a fun day there were some really good drivers there too.

I was suprised not to see more actual race cars out there throwing down. A lot of them were just sitting around all day long. I would have loved to have seen the ITA car on display run along with the CP racing cars. They might have run and I missed them though while I was in line.

Jims5543 , I was the guy with the #16 ITA car. We would have loved to run the autox but was waiting for our turn on the dyno. Even without that problem we had no scrubbed in tires to run. Would have been fine on a dry day. Our rains were way too soft for the course pavement and we would have destroyed them so....
Years ago I started in Solo2 and even became class champ. It was killing me to sit there and watch and not get to play. Sunday made up for it all. We had a great test day and found some better handling than we expected from the small changes we had made to the suspension. All in all a great weekend despite loosing a canopy to the wind gods!

I also plan to attend some SCCA auto-x events. I ran twice and I can see myself really enjoying this on a regular basis.

Go to www.autocross.com and search for clubs in your area. All the SCCA clubs as well as your local clubs will be listed. Have fun!
