Exclamation Racing Schools

I want to go to a racing school and money is of no matter when it comes to this I will save for it, I know skip barber is great but what are some other ones out there? I'm looking for a "autocross" I guess it would be called or like a "GT" class one...

You're in a GT car (the Panoz Esperante GT-RA) and get to drive it around Road Atlanta (which is awesome). Unfortunately only a small part of the school focuses on autocross. It's mostly geared toward road racing. Still the same skills apply in both.

The only autocross school I know of is this:

There are a ton around. Also pick up the Racer magazine sponsered by the Speed Channel. It has a list of schools near the back before the race car classifieds.

If you're interested in autox style instruction you want to go to an Evolution School. By far the best money you will spend. Typically under $200 for intense one on one instruction over an entire day.

After an Evolution school if you wanted actual track instruction I'd do Skip Barber or Bondurant.

As far as "racing" classes, just pick a good place that you can afford. IMO, don't worry about the type of vehicles they use for the class. The racing techniques/information that you will be taught will be used in pretty much any racing vehicle.

BTW, I will be doing the Stephen Brothers' Spec Ford class next year (if my back can take it). I'm thinking of doing Spec Ford in a few years so this will get two birds with one stone by going there.

If you have a group of 5 or more, you can pick whatever day(s) you want the class (hint Damon).

IIRC, it was around $900 for the one day class. It would be at Hallet, so not too far from either of us. *IF* my back can do it, I'm looking to the the class in the spring. I have 2 others here wanting to do the class, and maybe another.

However, even if I tracked the M3, my back just can't do it this winter. I'm suppose to not lift anything heavy (yea, I'm right there on that one) and stay out of the gym for 7 months.

BTW, the garage heater came in over the weekend, so I will have heat to work on the car over the winter. I just need to get around to hooking it up, which is what takes the longest.
