racing harness camlock location

Does anyone here know where the camlock should be located for a 5pt safty harness in relation to you body to be safe? I'm thinking that it should be just about as high as your belly button if not lower.

The lap belts and sub belt should be adjusted so that once the shoulder belts are cinched up the lap belt comes across your hip / pelvic bones, not your stomache. Think about it: in the case of an accident, what would be the best parts of your body for the belts to act on.

each manufacturer has specific mounting instructions. follow those instructions and you will be fine. be careful trying to reinvent the wheel.

I agree. The most important thing is that the lap belt stays across your pelvis in an accident. That should dictate the camlock being well below your belly button. The other thing people tend to do wrong (other than mounting the shoulder belts too low) is attaching the sub-belts to something too weak. If they rip out in a crash, and your body tries to dive under the belts, you're going to be in a world of hurt.
Good luck

i got my all the harness mounts attached to 5 inch reinforcment plates which are 1/4 inch galvanized steel plates except for the shoulder harness which is a 4 inch reinforcment plates which is again a 1/4 inch galvanized steel. The reason being that a 5 inch plate is not gonna fit in the rear under/over the fuel lines.
