Practice/rain tire for beginner Pro7.
Sorry to be such a pest.
I bought a pre-built Pro7 car and it came with two sets of wheels/tires. Both are Toyo RA1s mounted on stock "Plus sign" 13 inch wheels. One set was worn, while the other set was brand new, shaved and stickered, ready to go.
I'm in need of SOMETHING for rain/wet conditions.
I'm also wondering if it's a good idea to just run decent street tires instead of burning up race tires during my track days.
I would like to actually race some day, but for now, it's just track days. If I could make it to the track 6 times a year, I'd be one happy camper.
I know the car will handle differently running a street tire. But with just 100 miles of track time in the car, and maybe 350 miles of track time in my street car, will tires REALLY affect what I'm doing?
If I run Full tread RA1s in the rain, I could always use them as spares later on. If I run a street tire, they will last and last and last.
Thoughts? Tips?
Thanks,
Todd

I'd run a full tread RA/1, actually, that's what I do
In a pinch, ithey can also serve as spare dry tires, should you have a problem with your shaved tires. They also are handy at holding down canopies

RA1's are okay in rain.
About the only thing else I can think of is the A032R's.
But, there's been a bunch of new R compound DOT race rubber that has come out recently.
Check out the new Dunlop Super Sport(?) tire - check out Tire Rack - http://www.tirerack.com/

But does it make sense to get a set of street tires
for practice/rain?
It sounds like most of you always run race tires.
Again, I'm just learning to drive and learn the tracks.
Looking forward to meeting some of you track guys.

Todd, I look forward to seeing you at the track. We are hard to miss
Which group(s) will you be running with?
