Oregon SCCA ITE ?'s

Hey all, couple of questions about the local (to me) ITE class. Basically it looks like the field is always a bunch of miatas, a z car, comaro, a rx7 or two. What kinda of power/weight are we talking to be on par car vs. car. After looking at the race results we were thinking bout 325-375hp at the wheels and as light as we could get it.

and come clarification on some rules

1. Cars may use an alternate engine block. The engine block must be from the same manufacturer as the chassis. The engine must remain in the original location utilizing the factory engine mount locations. The engine block type (example: V8) must remain the same as originally delivered and/or offered for sale from the manufacturer.

_this would rule out a 20B, or a triple rotor built from 13B parts correct?_

The next two rules are about tires/fenders just want some clarification

2.Wheel and tire size are free, within the limitation that the wheel/tire combination must fit completely within the front and rear fender well opening.

3.Fender modifications are allowed for the purpose of tire clearance. Alternate fenders and doors are prohibited.

_no after market fenders correct? even if they are just little covers that give more clearance? And no fiberglass doors and what not?

Here is my best bet:
1. Correct. you cna use Mazda factory peripheral port housings, or a12A in place of a 13B, buit it can only retain 2 rotors.
2/3 - aftermarket fender, no. big *** flares built from fiberglass on your stock fenders, yes. That would be a modification to allow tire clearance. No fiberglass doors.
Those more familiar with the Oregon region should chime in.

I was at a race in Seattle a couple years ago and I saw a guy drive up in his NSX, put some decals on it, swap the wheels and go racing. It was pretty fast too. I'd think that the main competition would come from the Corvettes, there was at least one really fast C5 there. It would probably go to the Oregon races too. Unless you can turbo you're not going to get ~350hp to the rear wheels with a 13B. ITE is a class that could get out of hand very quickly ($$$$) if some people decide to start an arms race of sorts. It'll cost a lot to win in ITE, you may wish to start with a slower class, and as always, buying a prepared car will be much cheaper than building one.

Fender mods not allowed except for rolling the fenders, follows standard IT rules. Gutting of all body parts are exceptable to allow for maximum weight savings. Randal is running his 3rd gen in ITE, and he has the same problem with tires clearance and will be forced to roll his fenders also.

Block rule will allow you to run a 4 port, 6 port or PP housings. Turbo is allowed in ITE.

RS is another place to run a NA 2nd Gen, pretty good class in conference, but Or. Region sucks, Joe Harlen change the rule a couple of years ago to meet the Nor Cal rules so the Conference cars are not legal any more.

Give me a call at the shop if you want to discuss the rules a little more. I will be in the Or. Region Pace car again for 06, see me there if you like. I will be in the Black RX8.

Well, I wouldn't expect to be anywhere near the front. But It would be a joint effort between a friend and me, basically a nifty barely street car that could do ITE and lots of HPDE stuff.

I just check some old results to see what kind of cars are in there. I saw that scotty B and Cindy Lux can race there T1 vipers in ITE. I guess I will go visit my friend on friday and talk to some of the people from Naykid Racing. And I hope they do good this year.

But the regulars are an Integra type R a 944 and 944T and a comaro (at least front runners) most of the other cars seems to be miata's and what not.
