WA Novice seeks advice starting out (FB)

Hi everyone,

I just bought a spec/pro7 class car and I'm looking into helmets.

This one looked decent, but I have nothing really to base my decision on. I'd like to keep it under $150 and this seemed like a decent one based on what I've read about the requirements.

G-FORCE Products - Modified Helmet

The only racing supply store I know of nearby doesn't have these in stock for me to try on (or much selection in general) and all of their helmets are over $300 anyway.

Anyone here have any suggestions or advice on this topic?

Secondly, I have a pretty good starting point to build up to any kind of racing, but I'm wondering if the FB can be competitive when up against something besides other FBs. Much of what I've read online so far suggests that it isn't.

If you had my car, would you keep it as-is or try to give it a dose of speed?

I look forward to reading your replies. Thanks in advance!

You are going to want to try a helmet on before buying. As for the car, leave it stock and learn how to drive first. Spec pro 7 cars are pretty close to stock so they are not the fastest but they are a good starting point. You can move it up to a PTE car with some mods in the future if you want to go faster.
