New racer ?

First time rotary owner. Got a car cheap in pefect condition with a 12A in it. 1980 RX7. I want to get into road racing with it but I need to know who the different organizations are that run these events. I'm looking to find out what engines I can use and saftey features they want added on. Also, whats the best rotary engine out there to modify.

well your in Virginia, and thats kinda close to Summit Point, WV. Washington DC region SCCA honors the Spec-RX7 class which is basically stock motor will some other mods, however, the cars have to be from 1981-85. I don't know too many rules of other classes, but a 12a first gen could also be in ITA, or if you put a 13b in it, ITS. And if you have the money for a streetport and some other goodies like 5:12 LSD etc., you could run in EP. EP is alot of money though because almost nothing is stock.

SCCA is probably the biggest organization and most organized by far. To obtain a license you are required to go through 2 schools (there is a good every fall and every spring).

The other organization is NASA which only requires 1 school for a license.
