I was supposed to go but can't make it. Still trying to see if I can get there for Sunday but doubt it.

Thumbs up Ws

Yah come on by! I'll be with the JMC Motorsports guys. Look for their Easy Up with "JMC" on it and a red white and blue AI Mustang under it. I'll have my green Easy Up with the car under it. Johnny Mag might have his 3rd gen there as well.

We're only doing the enduros, so it'll be June 7 before we're on the track again - at Buttonwillow.

I saw a few guys there but never really got a chance to make the rounds. Too busy chasing electrical gremlins. Nice weekend though!

Josh,
We were right behind you guys. Jim (7s only) came over to check out my car on friday. I didn't get a chance to see the ST race how did you do? My son likes the yellow car that says you're toast! on the back. I love the Smell of a PP in the morning!

Success and Sorrow

Everything went well this past weekend. I was not able to run Time Trials in the class that my car fits into because the leader doesn't like my Mustang Dyno sheet. So in order to run in TTU I have to get a new dyno sheet from a Dynojet 224 or 248. I had to run in TTR which is a totaly unlimited class for tube frame or monocoque race cars! But I had fun nonetheless. I actually would have won the TTU class if I were allowed to be classed in it. I did get the 5th fastest time of the event. I'm pretty stoked about that. The best thing though is there was another rotary (1st gen) in the top 5 with me. A dude named Scot Howard. He is very quick and he and his dad are as nice as they come. He was third overall first in TTS.

Amir came out to say hi. It was great to meet and BS with him on Saturday.

I have an interesting video of the second session Sunday. I was on my warm up lap. Just starting to back off a bit to leave a gap between me and this EVO and you'll see what happens.

On a very sad note. There was a horrific accident in turn 9 on Saturday. A HPDE 3 Driver, Joe Drey, rolled his Mini Cooper S Several times and was life flighted out soon after the accident. He has since passed away. Our Hearts and Prayers are with the family

Saw you guys back there and could hear you start up. Bummer about the TT classing issue but sounds like you Had some good runs none the less!

Warm up and qualifying were really more like test sessions for me on both days but Tom and his crew managed to work out most of the bugs for each race; I have no idea how. I pulled off 3rd place on Sat and 2nd place on Sun. Jim (in the yellow car that your son likes) and I had a drag race to the finish on Sunday and I only beat him by a couple of inches.

You make it look so easy

Your car seems wonderfully prepared.

I wish I could have been there for the event as I would have also enjoyed watching Josh out there.

Very sad about the guy in the Mini.... Scary stuff.

Looks like that link isn't working anymore (I saw it the other day though). NASA has a statement up:

Josh,
Next time I'll come over and say hi. I love the color of your car BTW It reminds me of a cool glass of root beer! Yes Dylan, my 7 year old Crew Chief loves all of the GT Mazdas. If they were turbo charged and had IRS I'd probably have to buy one from Tom!

Gracer,
Thanks. I was not looking forward to coming back through 8 and 9, fearful of at least a tow truck for the EVO. But I was glad to see the EVO was gone under its own power. My best lap wasn't unitil 5 more laps from the end of the video. I think that was why.

Great to meet you too Brian and congrats on your run!

Also I came and said hi to you Josh, don't know if you remember as you were dealing with some issues at the time.

Yeah, I remember - thanks for stopping by and sorry I was less than talkative. The problem kept moving around so I was getting frustrated. First it was a bad bushing in the distributor, then the positive wire to the trailing igniter was grounding against the new distributor cam, then the pill for my shift light started shorting making me think that I had a bad coil or igniter when it really was just a bad pill. Once those things were fixed, it still wasn't running right but we couldn't see the problem in the pits. We put it on the dyno later in the week and it became clear that I had a bad apex seal. The car was down a good 35 horsepower. Frustrating exercise but it just happened to be running well enough to be competitive in each of the races.

Sweet cars guys. Nice driving Flynbryn. Makes me want to take the 1st gen out of mothballs.

The AWD guys typically don't use all the track and rely on 4 wheel drive to pull them in and out of the corners. That evo got too far INto turn eight then slid all the way across the track??? Ouch.

Looks like a ton of fun and thanks for the videos and info.
