can't see most of the photos, but from the ones i have seen, i'm quite impressed with the work being put into it. i'm particularly fond of the suspension.

what brake rotors are those?

CJarrett 01-12-13 09:43 PM

Rotors are from AWR, I will see I can do about the pictures. Thanks for the compliments.

D.R. 01-18-13 02:44 AM

Looking great, Carl! I am also a pretty big guy and I need all of the headroom that I can spare. How much lowering did you achieve with your seat pan modification? Do you have any concerns over cutting the frame rail? I need to check legality in my class, but I may do a similar modification...

CJarrett 01-24-13 04:11 PM

With the seat pan mod I gained around 2", but in reality it was probably more, as the floor has the formed corrugations you can't mount the seat exactly flat anyways, especially with the factory mount points which I cut out with a spot weld remover.

Since I cut through the frame rail, I added back in the X support which brought back any stiffness. And really, the majority of rigidity is coming from the cage anyways.

JK5S 02-02-13 09:46 PM

Pretty sweet, I only wish i could see 90% photos you posted from a year ago that wont open.

hioctane-dtc 02-02-13 10:27 PM

Keep it up Carl! Can't wait to see this car completed and running!

CJarrett 02-04-13 07:23 PM

How do I edit posts? I figured out why the pictures are broken, just need to edit these. Thanks.

CJarrett 02-06-13 02:45 PM

Since I can't edit my posts, I'll post up new pics:

My jaw, is dropped...

JK5S 02-07-13 02:34 PM

Superb work, love the roll cage and wheels.

CJarrett 02-07-13 08:14 PM

Thanks guys!

shaun.sheldrake 02-08-13 01:14 AM

Awesome effort you're putting in, love the detail work

Cam_Ron 02-09-13 07:20 AM

Updates on the brake setup? I see an altered pedal ratio, 2 master cylinders and what I believe is a balance bar? I'm looking forward to seeing how you mount and actuate them with the stock pedal.

CS13B 02-10-13 02:20 PM

Wicked Carl, glad I found your build lol Keep the updates coming!

Adam12A 02-14-13 08:58 PM

Awesome work, wish I could get so in depth.

JamesG 03-02-13 08:10 PM

Love the updates - but can you not upload so many pictures at once................you are making us all look bad!!!:)

designfreak 03-08-13 10:28 AM

Absolutelly beautiful! Looking like it might be the grail fc!

CJarrett 03-08-13 02:38 PM

Thanks guys. I'm working on the widebody fenders right now, and front bumper/headlights. This is just realtime shaders in Maya right now:

Wow that looks wicked, Carl!

designfreak 03-13-13 12:51 PM

looks great! Looks like what Im going for too!

eage8 03-20-13 09:34 PM

can you post more pictures of the speedway bar? (I assume it's from AWR).

are you mounting it in the stock location? how thick is it? (overall and wall thickness)

CJarrett 04-02-13 03:33 AM

Here are some shots of the AWR bar.

Here's the link to the AWR product:

I can measure the diameter if you want, not sure what the rate is, and don't feel like taking it off to measure. Will probably measure my modified rear bar though. Hope that helps.

CJarrett 04-02-13 03:44 AM

Took a few other shots tonight:

Got my housings and rotors cleaned up. This weekend will start building the jig to bore the periph ports in the housings so I can replicate the setup easily. Also have Mazda race bearings in the rotors. Will lighten and balance the assembly.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_029.jpg

Thought this picture came out nicely.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_049.jpg

New lightweight rear calipers.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_037.jpg

Cleaned these up to sell them. Very nice condition S5 plates.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_039.jpg

Dave and I made the container for the fuel cell. Need to make the lid, but the guy who borrowed my circular saw nearly cut his finger off over the weekend and I feel bad for asking for it back to cut the material.

RB Race header, 1.75" ID primaries.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_052.jpg

Dual 1.75" stainless to 2.5" single. Need to build a couple of mufflers but need engine mocked up so I can figure out exactly how much room I will have. Need to maximize this so I wont need to hack something together to meet sound regs.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_044.jpg

And heres Dave.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_059.jpg

Polished up the taillights, look brand new!

CJarrett 04-02-13 03:50 AM

Converting my mill/lathe to CNC this year, bought new 3ph motors and Hitachi VFDs:

Thanks, I thought you had mounted it in the stock location based on earlier pictures. From what I've read, and from what it looks like it's a solid 1" bar.

TheGr1m 04-03-13 07:07 AM

I have always wondered, what is the point of all those tiny welds around the strut towers?

RotaSpinna69 04-03-13 09:48 AM

Replaces the factory seam sealer junk and strengthens the chassis

CJarrett 04-03-13 02:25 PM

Yeah this chassis had a lot of miles on it. The spot welds from the factory can loosen up, but also just improving upon the integrity of the chassis itself. Was also a nice refresher for me to get back into MIG welding.

Cam_Ron 04-03-13 07:12 PM

PM sent. Please let me know.

CJarrett 04-11-13 03:01 PM

Copy and pasted from our blog because I'm a lazy typer.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_009.jpg

So we finally begin the engine build. First off we need to build a jig to bore the peripheral port holes in the housings. Will be some 3/8" steel plate to securely hold the housings so we can make bores and cuts to precise tolerances and do it repeatable.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_051.jpg

Bought some 180 degree bends from Columbia Mandrel Bends. Have both 2" and 2 1/2" for the intake, and some 2 1/4" for the exhaust.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_010.jpg

Cleaned up these S5 housings, in pretty decent shape. Have a few more sets we plan on doing as well. Will most likely build 2 versions of these.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_012.jpg

These are the S5 high compression rotors we are going with as well. Cleaned them up, and will be milling the sides of them to lighten them, and then balance them as well. Will get the whole rotating assembly dynamically balanced.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_014.jpg

Not sure if these are the plates we'll use but they are in pretty good shape. The ports would need to be filled with some steel epoxy.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_039.jpg

Also have been working on getting the fuel cell in and the fuel lines plumbed up. Have plenty of room under the rear of the car to mount this behind the diff and still have plenty of room to build a good sized diffuser.

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_047.jpg

Bought these Racing Beat race headers a year or two ago to use with this engine. Should work well but if not we'll make our own. The headers will mate up to this:

http://www.lucky-10.com/Photos/13_04..._04_01_052.jpg

Hand made flange and dual 1.75" runners to single 2.5" main. Once we can get the engine in the car, we can work on routing the rest of the exhaust.

Supersevenn 12-12-15 09:43 PM

so does anyone know what ever happened to this build ?

GrossPolluter 12-15-15 10:37 PM

Any updates on those custom front lower control arms?
