Mazdaspeed shifter bushing too tight

I installed the Mazdaspeed aluminum shifter bushing on my stock FD shifter today. It's very very tight and it requires way too much force to move the shift lever now. Is this normal and will the bushing "wear in" eventually, or did I do something wrong? I lubed the pivot ball and bushing before assembling and made sure the ball was sitting all the way in the bushing before installing back in the car. Thanks!

I have one in my car and it slipped right in. Maybe something fell out of place when you reassembled the shifter. Also replacing the other three plastic bushings and two wave washers make a big difference in how the shifter feels.
