Does anyone know if the syncros in the old style Mazda Comp 4 speed are the same as the production gearboxes? Mazda comp says that the syncros are no longer available, but I see that syncros are available from other sources for the same style 14 bolt finned bottom cover production transmissions.

I am wondering if the internals were the same except for the close gear ratios.

The transmission is in a GT-3 RX-3 and has worked very well, but third gear is starting to grind a little when cold.
