It's an intake coupler or a clamp. I've only seen it in purple, it's named after someone, they're really expensive (~$100 ea) and you can install it or remove it with one hand.

It seems to me I had heard that they used them on the racing cadillacs.

 

Wiggins clamp. They are very common on all types of professional racecars, not just for intakes but for fluids as well.
