I finally got myself a daily driver so I can focus the FC on track-only. By track-only I mean I would love to participate in Solo I road race type events, but that is too expensive for me to maintain at the moment. I want to start prepping the car beginning with suspension and the likes. What would any of you recommend to begin with? ...in all areas of suspension. Basically it is stock right now in that category.

I know the basic setup, spring rates, sway bar front only, upgrade bushings ...stuff like that, but no specifics such as whether or not predesigned coilover kits are more favorable to customs piecing together, etc.

 

Do you have any racing experience yet? If you don't I recommend you get out to some solo 2 events and get some behind the wheel experience then do an open track test n tune or the like at a track near you, cost runs from $100-$200 a session usually. No point spending money prepping your car to race if you havent even raced yet, modifying your suspension will just cost you money that would be better spent having fun and getting experience behind the wheel. Solo I events are relatively inexpensive, $75-$150 for a session or even a whole day. In my opinion doing 10 open track events or solo time trials is a solid years worth of racing and that is probably cheaper than you will get away with prepping your car for.

 

well wht i would is same as wht she said^^^^go out and do some track stuff first and get some seat time on the stock suspension...once u think u have pushed the stock suspension to its limits then go out and buy ur self a set of coilovers and bigger sway bar and all the bushings.just my.02......or you can go out and find a track ready FC for as little as $6000 fully built suspension 12pt roll cage all tht good stuff.....
I bought my FC for $12,000 fully built race ready and it came with alot of spares,motor,trany,rear ends calipers hood doors hatch,4 sets of wheels with Toyo Proxes Ra-1....just to give u an idea

 

Question... why would you want to run NO rear antiroll bar on a FC?

 

He must be confusing FC suspension setup with FBs.

As an instructor for Cascade Sports Car Club I whole heartedly endorse driver training events. Make sure the car is in very good stock condition, maybe upgrade the brake pads and get out on track. Solo 2 is also good. Make sure you get some instruction to get maximum benefit from the track time.

 

beacuse the spring rates that we run are so high. so we dont run a rear sway bar beacuse it lets the rear of the car stay planted through the cornners.
