CA Infinion Test day......I'm Baaack!

After 8 long months.....The ex Pettit racing FD is back on track.
Spent this afternoon at infinion breaking in the motor. All is good. .....Great infact.

Only 3 cars turned to for the afternoon session. One ( scary fast GT1) porsche blew up and the other ( a formula ford) couldn't hack the rain......They bailed and for over an hour I had the ENTIRE freakin track to my self. Drove over 2 hrs.......The car performed flawlessly.

In my 8 month down time, after trying to sell, I painted the engine bay, front end, a few fenders.....also changed the stock rear brakes up to the RZ/Wilwood NDL set up to match the 13" outlaws up front.

Today's time in the rain was amazing......First time in the rain for me after tracking for 5 years. .....amazing but life in california is tough.
The brake balance was perfect. Car was extremely stable under braking in the wet. The DTC pads were a first for me and were easily modulated.

So what's next? ..........The 18x10.5 CCW's and hoosiers should be here by Christmas and a 500r SP single by the end of January. ITE in SFR region doesn't stand chance.

We now resume your regular scheduled programing.
Cheers
Niles

Thanks for the comments and offers to help out. ..... I'll keep you posted on the season.......I won't make all the events but I'll be there enough to make it interesting.

Stay tuned. Season opener at Infinion in April.

Niles

I'll get some pictures up at some point.

the only car i would tell you to look out for is Griggs Racings mustang, it is, umm pretty quick. Made for Nasa AIX series, but makes some stops in the scca class
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyxsXR4Nc7g
it did a 1:45 there, but that was with the out loop on turn 7, it set pole at a 1:43.xxx for the ite race it was in........nice looking car, and i will be looking foward to see it on track next year

Yep, I hear you about the griggs car.......Nascar motor?

ITE always has a few casual class drivers with serious cars making serious power.
My times at the tracks (LS, TH, IF)put me just on top of the regulars. Racecraft is where I lack.

All in due time.

do not know about the motors origins, but griggs are suspension people, so they probably had someone else to do the motor. rumor has it that it is putting down around 550 at the wheels. have you been to Thill since the new repave?

Most likely for aero reason.

More likely because it was cold and rainy and it was necessary to get the temps up...

Yep, you got it.........43 degrees and rainy.......

The car will run all day at T hill in 100 degree's but struggles to get warm on a cold day. .....Hence the tape.

Jross, I have been to thill since the repave. I borrowed a friends spec miata. We did the weekend ITA and SM race then capped it with the 4 hour enduro. The new surface is great. I'll be up there on the 4th for a free test day.

Really, who were u running the 4 hour with? im with evil genius, we were out there with the yellow and green cars, we won ita and the it class for the four hour, o and i wasnt running in any of the cars i was crewing. the repave is very nice, during one of the test days in the rain there was a slippery spot during the entrance of 2 and through the top of 5, makes life interesting...o and theres a good chance i might drive up there for the free test day and help crew for some of the sm guys

See you up there.......

Yeah, it was my first race weekend. I qualified for my competition license that weekend. I was driving my friends "B" SM car. Great racing all around. I do really like spec miata....it makes sense on so many levels. I finsihed 18th in the SM race...and we were fourth in SM for the enduro. Got laps down to 2:10.4. And was just happy I didn't wreck my friends car. I've got some great video of the carnage but can't find my sony cable or I would post it.

BTW - I was coming back from the coast and followed the evil genius dually thru petaluma on to vallejo about two weeks ago. ..Funny.
