RE-01R's come nice in 15's.....and they're the tire to beat in STS2! Too bad they only make them in 195 size.......so I don't mind running a 7 or a 6.5 at all. I could stretch them on 7.5's but that would be funny.

The problem with 17 in tires is that they don't make the aspect ratios low enough to take advantage of gearing.

Spacers are perfectly safe and there's nothing inherently wrong with them. Besides, I'm not aware of ANY other 15x7.5's that'll fit the FC, spacers or no, since it's an odd size and not many companies do 15's for our pattern anyway, they're mostly for 4 bolt patterns. The extra width is worth it and there will be a speed and handling benefit from using 7.5's over 7's or 6.5's.

The 195 RE-01R's are actually a very wide 195, wider than a number of 205's.

The gearing help of the 225/45/15's will be not insignificant over that of a 225/45/17, and the whole package will be lighter. That new Toyo could make the 225/45/15 on a 15x7.5 combo the one to beat.

Sure it's better to have wheels that fit properly without them, but they're perfectly safe. Before he sold it this fall I crewed for a GT3 class road racing BMW 2002 and he used 1" spacers and we've even stacked 1/2" spacers without any issues and he's raced that car since 1982. That's with slicks, race suspension, big brakes, race engine, etc.

It's not the studs that carry the load, they're there mostly to provide a clamping force.

For my track wheels I use 15x8 slipstreams with a 40mm offset and 11mm spacers in order to get affordable 15x8's.

How much do your wheels weigh? I'm trying to get a feel for how much the 15x7.5s will weigh. Currently I'm running 17x7.5 +40mm offset that weigh 15 lbs each, and 225/45/17 RE01Rs that weight 26lbs each. I actually added about 40lbs overall moving from BBS vert wheels and 205/50/15s. I'd like to get some of the weight savings back.

I think the 15x7.5's are around 14lbs or so. I never weighed mine, but they're under 15lbs, and I think I've seen 4 bolt ones quoted at about 14.5lbs (2 + boxes had a shipping weight of about 30lbs).
