So i am planning on taking my FD to a test and tune and at the nearest track i need a helmet if you run lower than 13's. Hres the requirements:

THE SNELL 90 & 95 HELMET WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED. YOU MUST USE THE SNELL RATED K98-2000, 2005 OR SFI 31.1 - 31.2 - 31.1A - 31.2 - 31.1 2005- 41.1 - 41.2 - 41.2A - OR 41.1 2005.

To me that is all jibberish and im having trouble finding a helmet. Could you guys throw up some links to a few helmets that fit the requirement so i can get an idea fo what i need to be looking for? Thanks in advance

Here's where I got mine for the hill climbs. Go with a SA2005 rating. Open or closed face is personal preference (as long as your not in a 'vert).

 

I assume they will let you use the better SA2005 race car helmet in place of the K98 Kart helmet?

As far as cars go, it really depends on what you're going to be doing. If you're doing something that's all out crazy, I'd get a full face helmet. If it's only strip passes and it's relatively safe, I'd get a half-face helmet. The pricey helmets are generally very light motorcycle helmets, as a heavy helmet is very fatiguing while you ride, so don't think that the higher the price tag the better the helmet. So basically, get something that fits your budget and meets the minimum requirements.

 

Remember that fit is as important as any other thing. If you can try it on in person then absolutely do so. People have very different head shapes and helmets are very snug fitting.

Snell certifies helmets to a standard that changes every 5 years. The latest is 2005. You could also use a 2000 certified helmet. I'm not familiar with the SFI specs.
