Headroom in FD (cage in way)

I'm only 5'6" tall and having headroom problems with my cage in my FD. I recently had Kirk Racing install a full cage in my 93 Touring (yes, the damn thing has a sunroof). The car is completely stripped inside, nothing but a seat, cage and controls (literally, no guages yet). Anyhow, I'm having problems getting my seat in a position where I can see, reach the pedals, and not have my head against the upper bar. I have a Sparco seat that is mounted to homemade brackets that consist of simple 3/16" steel straps bolted to the factory mounting holes for the original seats (so it's pretty darned low). I also have it pushed as far toward the tunnel as possible.

Anyhow, I was wondering if there were any ways to get a reasonable driving position and not have my head on the bar. Seat recommendations? Mounting methods?

Do I just have to have the cage ripped out and have the sunroof crap removed and hole welded in?

Thanks,
Tubbs

What we did with the cage in my car (which is for sale on ebay <http://uucurl.com/x.jsp?p=105>) was to deform the tranny tunnel and mount the seat directly inline with the steering wheel. You probably haven't noticed, but the stock position is offest to the left about 1". Anyway, I also have mount straps like yours and the seat is very low. I am 5'10" with long legs and my seat is pretty far back. FYI, the car is an R1, so no sunroof. I'd ditch the sunroof BS and weld it in. Hope that helps a little.
