i know that there has been a few people that use it for passing smog.

the exhaust smells cleaner with full exhaust.

 

I thought I was going to have to strangle my gf the other day. She had her oil changed and let them charge her $60 for a fuel injector cleaning. ARRRRRGH! I told her to never let them do crap like that. She thought it was a deal because the dealer wanted $100. I explained that both of them are thieves, one just charges more

 

i wasted 7 USD on a bottle of redline fuel injector cleaner... put into a tank of gas...d rove around...

no effect.

i just wasted 7 bucks in hope i wuldn't have to pull the injectors and get them rebuilt and balanced

 

just another brand of snake oil, beware.

 

The redline SI-1 is actually very good, I have used it in cars that barely ran, and gone to runs smoothly in one tank. Based on that, I run it through all my cars from time to time. Maybe I'm a sucker, but that product does as much as you should expect from an additive Carl Byck

 

My favorite is still the little pellets you drop down the spark plug holes that then melt and seal up all the gouges in the bores so the rings seal again Engine rebuild in a can! Who'd have thought it possible!

I wouldn't put that crap in my lawn mower.

 

DamonB, what is this product you are talking about? My wife's Saturn is slowly burning oil and I want to see if I can remedy the situation (at least for the time being)...

Currently, I'm using "Restore". Seems to work pretty well. I seem to be getting more power back in the engine.

I used the redline fuel injector cleaner in my 99 Amigo V6 which was running rough and by the end of the tank it was running noticeably smoother. That was a month ago. And it still runs better today.

 

I think Damon was trying to make a point that these products are totally useless and a waste of money. if you think there is a liquid you can pore into the oil that "fills gouges in metal" I have a bridge in New York for sale. all of these products have been independently tested and found to do nothing. most oil additives are high detergent oil and most injector cleaners are concentrated versions of the detergents already in pump gas. a 12oz. bottle added to 10 gallons of gas will only slightly increase the level of these cleaners already in the gas and do no more cleaning than the gas already does. injectors can be cleaned but it takes more than a bottle of mystery oil. and seat of the pants analysis of a cars performance is always out of calibration and therefore totally useless.
