girling brake master cylinder

just a quick question how does the fluid flow in the girling type master cylinders?

I mean the mc I'm used to seeing have a reservoir before the out let. so as you push the piston it closes off the access to the reservior then it begins to build pressure as it pushes fluid through the out let into the lines.

But the girling type mc, and a few others. have the out let closer to the push rod than the ones I'm used to seeing. They look backwards. is there some sort of valving happening here?

heres a girling

these are more like the ones I know

the out let is at the rear and the inlet (from reservoir is at the top)
