Getting sponsers..
hey guys I thought this would be the best place to poast this, i was just wondering how many of you guys are sponsered, and what your sponsers cover cost wise. I'm finsihing up my 89 GXL road race car, it has been built for Targa Newfoundland. If anyone has any ideas for the best ways to go about getting some sponsers it would help alot, so far I have paied for every mod, so it would be nice to get some help to cover the cost of running the rally.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I've always done it based on the cost of the racing season. If it's something you haven't done before, it can be hard to come up with a good figure. You'll want them to pay for every ounce of gas (both racecar and truck), oil, tires, entry fees, brake pads, rotors, rebuild kit, everything. When you get it calculated up, add a few hundred/thousand to it. The key is to offer sponsorship for smaller amounts. In your package, be sure to include the cost of TV time you've had / expect to have. Newspaper articles, website articles, everything, is good to include when you send a package to a potential sponsor.
I ran for a few years in Quarter Midgets with 3 sponsors and ended up with more money than if I ended up with just one, so if somebody offers you less than what your goal is, don't turn them away.

chris hit on it in a round about way. find out what you have to sell, namely advertising and try to assign or calculate a value for it. then go out and sell this advertising. it is just like selling space or time on tv or newspapers, a 30 second spot on the program costs X amount of dollars or this many inches of newsprint costs this. I am willing to sell this to you for Y. hopefully Y will cover all your expenses. for small events without TV or large spectator crowds it can be difficult. hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the help, i have already started doing up a package to sent to some local companies that I think my show some interest. The thing is I would like to try and come up with some larger international sponsers because they more often than not have larger budgets. Also the rally is airded on SPEED and they told me that the vewing base is somewhere around 300,000,000 worldwide. When I get a package done I'll post it so a few people here who have done this before can offer sujestions. Also if their is anyone here that would be willing to share some of the planes they have done it would be a great guide for someone that hasn't done this before.
Thanks
