The data from the beta test group is critical. Assuming that this comes back quickly enough, Memorial day should be possible. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

But shouldnt a fuel surge tank in the engine bay solve this?

A surge tank will solve the issue, but will require that you:
a) place it somewhere (IMHO, the engine bay is a bad idea)
b) plumb to it with -6 lines
c) use a secondary fuel pump w/wiring and relay
For full race cars it's a great idea. My hope is that I can achieve 80% of what a surge tank does at a fraction of the cost and complexity.

Okay, updates!
I've made a few design improvements during the beta test period (which is still ongoing) and I want to thank my testers for their input. We had a successful test of the cover in another car this weekend, and there will be a few more data points in the next week or so. The test car was able to run below 1/4 tank without starvation issues on a roadcourse.
I'm waiting on some parts from a supplier, but we're getting very close to the point where I can start a production run. I don't forsee any major issues so with that in mind, I'm going to contact the rx7club.com admins and get permission to do a group buy.
Again, there may be a few changes based on feedback from the beta test group, but I think we're pretty close.

Just wanted to verify that some of the beta testers have significantly modded cars? Bigger injectors in particular? The reason I ask is that I was afraid that part of my fuel starvation problems stem from the box itself not really being big enough to cover the increased fuel requirements, in which case a cover wouldn't help.
Otherwise, that sounds FANTASTIC. I'd be thrilled just to get by the 3/4 full mark again......

Put me on that list, Chris. I've got an event starting the 24th of May, I'd love as much advance time as possible to get it installed!

That's great news! I was contacting Fuel Safe to see what an OEM drop-in tank with bladder and surge tank would cost. I'm sure it'll be tons more than this. But if this provides the same results then my prayers are answered.

Hey all,
I've gotten some positive feedback from the beta test group, and I've had quite a few requests for this so I'm posting the official group buy here:

See you there,

I’m going to try to integrate a Holley hydramat with my cut 93 tank and Hyperion surge cover. Belts and suspenders and duct tape. Must run lighter. Must run less fuel.
Even with the tank cut I’d need to run 6-8 gallons min and still at risk or starve if I pushed it. I had good luck with a hydra mat in an externally pumped road race car. I’m going to try to adapt one to walbro 400 pump
