I'd say ~15 cars in the group, 7 sessions for 179.00. I was really pleased with my temps, I think I can run a full session at 20 psi now without problems. Tighen I'll add water injection, and reliability will only get better. I am going to have to go to the high end hose clamps, those billet hinged pieces, the T bolts are not getting it done, maybe two T polts, and longer custom couplers with a double bead. T bolts hold O'k until you get them very hot, and oily, then, even T bolts slip. I am going to make some 4" couplers, this blowing hoses off is getting old... carl
Carl, I have one question for yah.

Do you run a BOV?

Please let me know.

Greddy Type R BOV. I have two oil coolers, 200 at the filter is high??? Have you ever run 20 psi for 20 minutes at 5000-8000 rpm continously? 200 is plenty safe, lowest I've ever seen on a road race car is ~190, but that was @~12 psi on a T78, way less heat than my set-up. If he had upped the boost to ~20, I suspect his temps would be unusable. I agree, that venting both sides will be required. Carl

No, but my Type R is cranked down pretty far, only blows off above ~16 psi, holds 25psi plus. Many smaller BOV will not hold boost, people think there EBC, or WG is the problem, but if you change those settings without improvement, i's most likely the BOV. Carl

I used to run 20w50, but the heavier oils are not as conducive to keeping the turbo oiled according to ATP, and Precision. 30 wt helped eleminate my smoking turbo issues. carl

I run 25W-70 HPR ( Penrite )..

I was told running anyless is not for a car making serious power.. Turbo lubrication was fine even at high loads.. How do you find your engine's oil pressure with such thi n oil??

I wouldnt use the oil you are using even on my SR20DET.. too thin

Without getting into a huge debate, you are mis-informed. many of the 1200-1600hp Supras are running 30 weight. I am switching to Amsoil, and I will go with their recomendation most likely. My pressures are normal, 20idle, 60 mid throttle med. lad, and 80@WOT. The way the oil works is it gains viscosity as it heats up, and when it is subjected to increased pressures. Go to the Amsoil site for great technical info. 70 weight in a motor??? I've never seen or heard of such a thing. You, not me are waaayy outside the box on this one Carl

oil pressure at 20psi, at idle, seems way to low to me. i start to get worried when my oil pressure drops below 40psi at idle, just because spec is about 40 in the manual. i would figure a high horespower motor running at high boost for extended periods of time would require a heavier weight oil. due to higher engine temps, wouldnt the oil break down faster or thin out due to it being a thinner weight oil? stuff like blowby gases carrying fuel into the oil. I would expect you to be changing oil every race day. i dunno just thinking to myself.

Every single rotary in australia uses HPR 40 which is 70w oil.... Im talking EVERY DAMN SINGLE ONE!

We are known to have kick *** car's in australia, but hey....

Whatever floats your boat, i will stick with 25-70w since every single workshop uses that!

Hell even my sisters daily driver TII uses SAE 20W -60

20psi at idle.. thats really low.
I get readings of minimum 5kg/cm2 @ idle. and upto 8.5- 9.5kg/cm2 at WOT.

Just goes to show wha a wide range of set-ups will work. my motor has 15000 hard miles on it at least. About 30 hours of road racing in there as well.
