EGT temps @ 3k RPM?

I just finished a rebuild on a blown motor I got in the newest racecar. We just got it timed and everything today, and my dad was worrying about the EGT temps being about 1400* on one rotor. We can't tell what the other is, the guage shows 0 (there's a lot of queer stuff with the car, we're finding out). Both worked yesterday when we fired it up for the first time, but the side that is currently showing 0 was very low. I know the engine is running on both rotors, because both headers are nice and orange (about the same shade, actually).

I'm curious, largely to keep my dad from worrying, what you guys with basically stock 12A's EGT temps are at either idle or 3k (I know, big difference), and if your headers glow orange after a few minutes. I'm thinking it's normal, and my dad is starting to think it is, but I'd like to get some confirmation from other people if at all possible.

Thanks all,
Chris

Thanks. We found something else wrong with the engine...me. I don't know (unless I got lucky) that I've got the pulley on there in the right location. That explains a lot of the funny stuff, like the fact that we've got it wayy retarded. It might also explain some of the other funny business.

I'll second that, I see 820-850 at idle

Yeah, it helps when putting an engine together to RTFM. I put the front pulley on wrong, so the timing marks weren't in the right place. Fortunately, they weren't too far off and rolling the car in 4th got everything (I think) worked out. I now see about 900 at idle, and 1200 at 3k.

Remember kids, RTFM
