Do you like this battery box?

What do you make of my fiberglass battery box? It is stiff and well bonded to the tub. The battery will be held down with a strap and the stock fiberglass deck will seal off the top using foam rubber for gasket material. I will cut a drain and vent hole in the chassis before calling it good.

The car will be used for street and some autox use, probably c prepared. All you racers, give me your opinion or suggestions please

You're going to drive that beast on the street!!!!!! Cool!

Looks good to me, albeit I have no idea on the structural or physical requirements for a battery relocation box in Auto-X.

Well, I will put the basic interior back in it. I think CSP (the class I am building for) requires an intact interior, although the hidden weight can be removed. I am a wannabe mechanical engineer. I start school next Fall and I had better succeed this time (going on 26 now )

I took the engine apart for a rebuild, temporarily ran out of $ for parts so had time on my hands. This led to the interior being removed on a hunt for dead weight to be tossed. Then I went to my first autox in my 88 Integra and got hooked! And now I have an 87 base FC CSP project.

I see the need for a tie down or something to keep the battery from wobbling around inside the box. This would not pass Tech at our Autocross. Also Isn't the battery normally on the opposite side of the car? I just see it being a pain to run the Positive wire accross the car.

The box itself looks good and is very creative.....I like it. Just the above problems would force me to change it a little.

Yes, and yes. There is a tiedown strap that was not installed for that picture. And yes, the battery was moved to that side to counter the weight of the driver. In stock trim it is sitting right over the left front corner, always the heaviest! So I couldn't resist putting the battery opposite from where it was. I still need to splice my cables and reroute them.

True, I see your point now......still lots of work though

My car is right hand drive so don't have those problems. I guess you did put a lot of thought into that. COOLNESS
