I didn't say the original RX5s aren't worth anything, only that it's likely that 99% of the buying public has no frame of reference to the RX5 brand... and given that the Miata is already the "MX5", it would seem perfectly logical that a rotary version of it is an "RX5"
Models evolve. The original Thunderbirds were conceived as a Corvette competitor, and ended up a plush sedan. Since this one hasn't been in circulation in 25 years....
I suppose RX6 would work too... I would envision that as a bit more of a departure, at least in styling/execution that simply a Miata with a rotary in it. You take the Miata platform, style it more aggressively, add a hardtop and perhaps a bit of wheelbase/track for bigger tires, and with a 240 hp rotary you'd have a a poor man's Elise that would be more real world livable. That car would sell, and kick the **** out of the 370Z.
