Custom Intake for LS1 Swap??

Everyone does 90 degree silicone elbows from the throttle body, and just runs the filter near the drivers side headlight.

On one of Flyin' Miata's builds, they stated that running two 90 degree elbow's and putting the filter near the drivers side strut tower gave an increase in both power and torque. Any takes on this? I don't see why anyone would run the intake this close to the engine, as the engine heat soaks the incoming air!

What size Piping do I need for the intake piping? I believe its 3.00'' at the Throttle body and 3.00" at the MAF, is this correct?

Thanks guys!

what chassis?

In an FC a C6 intake air bridge can be used
to draw air from in front of the radiator and over the core support.

Or just cut the core support, angle the radiator, and ran a straight 4 inch tube. That is what I did.
