Gotham had FD CF doors listed. Check if they still have them.

Wonder if they're complete or just outer skins, setup for rollcaged cars?

Carbon Fiber doors would be sweet, but then you start to think about it.

Why are the stock doors so heavy in the first place?

Well there's the side impact beam for starters, they're there for a reason. If you have CF doors and you get hit in or near the door, you can kiss your life goodbye, unless you happen to have some serious rollcage door bars in their place.

Not all weight is bad, some of it could save your life one day. Save thousands of dollars and protect yourself at the same time, keep the stock doors. If you really want, take of the inner door panels, take out the window and leave the rest there.

7parts.com in San Diego makes CF doors. They are simply the door and no window frame. You would need to fabricate that up.

Unfortunately their website is down.... however if you really need to contact him do a search and you should be able to reach Jeff. He works at Carvin.com. I imagine you would be able to track him down.

He has a very bad *** nearly full CF race FD. It is always at SevenStock.

If I made CF/Kevlar doors I would used atleast 4ply. Easier cheaper less safer way is to take off your door and have someone rip a fiberglass shell off them. It would be light as all hell and if it was just for the drag strip I guess it would need a bar added across. Also it would not break your bank. $200 at the most per door

I make carbon Fibre doors for a lot of race cars and a few road cars. I have had to repair a few of the doors I have made and I have also repaired some Porsche Super Cup carbon Fibre doors. I fit to most carbon fibre doors I make anti-intrusion bars. BMW have in some of their steel doors carbon Fibre anti-intrusion bars. I make a replica of the RX-7 series 6 doors that all the standard trims, locks, windows, mirrors and rubbers fit. These doors weigh under 4gk where the standard steel part is 14kg. There is a couple of race cars running these but they have fitted perspex in stead of glass and use carbon internal trims.

Carbom Fiber can be a good material for cars, but when it breaks it shatters into a bunch of very sharp pieces that can rip you to shreds. Not fun. Have you seen the pics of the Enzo crash where the car disintegrated. It's scary. Now steel bends to absorb the impact, that's better. On a race car with some hefty side impact door bars then a carbon door would be very good, but you can just gut the door and use the skin only for 80% of the effect with very little cost.

Let me guess? VGCF, vapor grown carbon fiber. Still in its testing infancy. Its not that secret. If you are talking about something else then what is it?
