Can't find a shell without a sunroof!

Been looking locally for a car as a good starting point for my project but for the life of me can't find anything without a sunroof.

I'm considering getting a better candidate, with a sunroof, then creating a mold of the roof and then laying up a fiberglass or carbon fibre roof panel. The car will be gutted with a cage regardless, I know some people have gotten steel roofs and bonded them in, is this a stupid idea?

THanks

Yeah, it is stupid..............

My sunroof car does 1:35;s at Laguna, 1:55's at Thunderhill etc. ............Gut it, cage it, seam weld it and RACE it. !

Don't worry about the sun roof, unless you just don't like the way it looks.............I know I don't.

Cheers

Or you could buy my car which doesn't have a sunroof

Seriously, the sunroof ain't a big deal, remove all the gear, bolt the thing to the roof. You're done.

I considered your car for sure, just might be hard to convince my better half to spend that much money right now. Would certainly save me a lot of work, although the build was part of what I was lookng forward to.

I am def. considering cars with sunroofs now too.

Found one! Picked up an 88 GX today, roll up windows, no sunroof, winnie the pooh seat covers, all for $200! Its going to be a lot of work, but looking forward to tearing into it. My co-worker has a GXL he'll sell to me for cheap as well, so that will be the donor for the LSD, spindles, and brakes. Not sure if it has an aluminum hood and if its an S5 or S4 yet, but I'm hoping.

FINALLY, after being registered on this forum for close to 10 years, I actually own an RX7!
