best motor for willow
i just spent 31K on an rx8 and i am looking to sell it to get a FD. i already have a mazda 6 so i want a pure autocross machine.
were is a good place to start looking for a good FD? and what can i expect to pay? also, what would be the ideal powerplant for autox. 13b w/ twins, or a single. im even open to 20b or a custom quad-rotor engine. i dont want to go over 50k though so im not sure if a 3 or 4 rotor engine is realistic. i also hear that the extra rotors also cause the weight and balance of the car to change thus messing up handling.
i will be racing it maily at willow springs so i want the fastest setup for a fairly technical track. im guessing 450-525whp will be ideal.
of course, i plan on racing and learning the stock FD first. ill upgrade as i get better.

Theres a VERY fast red 3rd gen with a 13b peripheral port and Weber 56 IDA by Gene Berg. Leeson crash box. Penske shocks. Races SCCA ITE and sometimes NASA SU. He's pulled 1:29's at Big Willow before.
N/A is more reliable, cheaper and less fuss than turbos.

ic... thank you two very much for the info.
man... TIMS.... you just shot down my dreams of owning an FD.
but i guess that saying that i want a pure autox car isnt entirly accurate. i dont plan on racing in any sanctioned races. its just to have fun i guess. an "open track/ time trial type street car" is exactly what i want. my cousin races there in his WRX sometimes. i dint think they are official races. the honest truth is i just want to have bragging rights.
i thought the rx8 would be fast but so far, i have been VERY dissappointed. its almost impossible to make the renesis produce the power that the 13b does. there is a guy on the east coast that is fitting a 20b on the 8. if im gonna spend that kind of money. it might as well be in a lighter car.
were is a good place to start loking for an FD?

Another excellent car other than Foko's is Brad Barber's car from Texas.
