I need to talk with a top-notch autox-er, photo op...

I'd like to talk with someone who might be sponsored or can very much handle their own on the pavement. This is for a website aimed at getting people more involved with legal racing in their area.

Some of the things I need are:
  1. A complete description of their autocross setup
  2. Tips that they feel give them the competitve edge
  3. and Pictures of their car of course, the car actually competing preffered

Basically to talk about how someone would begin to set up their car, what parts to buy first and so on.

Again, let me stress were trying to get people more involved with all aspects of street legal racing via any form possible. I need someone who isn't afraid to spill their secrets and take some pictures.

The driver/owner will get full credit of course.

We don't have to do it on the forums, but it would take a couple of emails.

Thanks for your time guys, and jsut let me know.

Good idea, how about a developing list of all the local and regional clubs so people can find a autocross club in their area. I recently moved and thought the nearest autocrossing was over 200 miles away, then I went to a regional SCCA event and found out there was a club that did 10 events not too far from my house. Also providing information like how easy it is to get started, how you don't need a competitive car to get started, and contact information for people in their local area they could meet up with to get some assistance so they aren't alone as beginners. Heres a some pics of my Miata and an RX-7 have co-driven.

Thats all the SCCA regions, there are a lot of local clubs out there. I know there is a website that has a lot of the local clubs but it was missing quite a few that I knew of. When I say local clubs I mean sports car clubs that are independent of the SCCA that have their own rules and arrange for their own sites and everything, I am in 3 sports car clubs that aren't affiliated with the SCCA at all but its mostly all the same people that race in them all hehe.

When looking at the entire spectrum of racing events it's quite large, but I will try my best to include everything and I hope people will start posting events without any of my help. It won't just be SCCA, it's just one that everyone is familiar with. We're going for all area's of driving events, drag and drift included.

The point is also to get eveyone involved via location rather than car specific. It's much easier to connect and relate with people when they live down the block. I'm sure I'm not reinventing the wheel, it's just my contribution to the sport I love so much

I recommend setting up a form on the website so groups can submit their race club, include on the form the clubs name, location, races they have per year, type of racing, e-mails and phone numbers, etc.

If a mod feels it belongs in a different section then they can move it. I am the novice chair for one of the 4 autocross clubs I am in plus I am in the SCCA / NWR-SCCA and deal a lot with promoting my local club and getting people interested in the sport and helping novices get comfortable with autocrossing. If you have any questions or want any advice or write ups for what your planning just PM me.

For all the guys posting event and organization info don't forget to look in the sticky at the top of this forum: The race section needs your help! Local info!

On a side note I always support the idea of people getting info out to their friends to get them to the track and started but don't forget there are a lot of great sites out there already:

www.autocross.com

www.dlbracing.com

www.scca.org

www.myautoevents.com

Many more in the sticky above.

Maybe its just me but "street legal racing" has a negative sound to it. I'd definetly consider rewording that.
