Anti-knock springs on Stoptech

Would it be too annoying of an experience to run the race version of the Stoptech BBKs (for the FD)--with anti-knock springs--on the street. Street driving would be reserved for minor errands on weekends.

Also, any opinion on pads (for the track) with the Stoptechs?

thx,
Ramon

I would not run the springs on the street.

Are you a baller? If so, PFC 01. If not, Ntech's Lapping or Track day pads.

Thanks for the input. I guess I should ask if anyone has bought Stoptech's "race" version w/o the antiknock springs. I'm focused on the "race" version as I will probably have the 99 JDM rears which match up well.

Glad to hear that I can finally use a Performance Friction pad with my brakes.

Ramon, do you have a really serious knock-back problem? How exactly does it behave?

Ramon, you can just order the "normal" kit with the custom pistons for the 99-rears. That's what I did 18 months ago from Dave (Zeckhausen). That way you get the proper piston sizing and street pads thrown in. I'm guessing the "race" kit comes with the titanium backing plates also? I don't know how necessary those are.

Let me clarify. I will be getting Stoptechs but I have access to a set of front calipers from a guy who very seriously tracked his car. He was having knock back problems with his setup and so he upgraded to the "race" calipers. He mentioned that the anti-knock springs should help. I previously incorrectly assumed that the springs were for the race version only.

Well, it seems that you guys both use the ST-40 caliper w/o any issues. At this point maybe I should stay away from the calipers I just mentioned and go new.

Thanks.

Update: Now if you want to match with the 99-rears, you must order the "race" kit, which includes preinstalled anti-knockback springs. They will no longer ship it to you without springs or with springs-on-the-side. It's not difficult to remove/install the springs, but people may want to know in advance...
