I just quickly looked through all the pages... VERY nice build!!
One question: Why no turbo?? -Ben |
Ha! I like that little pic, As for the reason for no turbo, I want to build something i can literally go out and beat the shit out of and not even have to look at the guages. Fot this i went with a fuel injection setup with no turbo. If you look closely there are no regular hoses. all braided with fittings and belts will be a double belt pulley for water and crank. Twin fuel pumps and a nice oversized 4.5 gallon sump tank with not one, but 2 huge 34 row oil coolers.

Engine Broken In and installed in the car!!!
6 Attachment(s)
As of this past saturday, the engine was broken in nicely. Sounds Awsome and made real good torque on the engine dyno. I have to say that Carlos Lopez has come up with a really productive combination to make these 2 rotor pp engines make all this power. Now that the engine is in the car, we will be making the engine harness and finalizing the little things left to have this car on the homestead speedway for the July 14-16 farausa.com race. Slowly but surely after a little over a year. this project will be comming together.
Thanks to all for all your ideas and support And a special Thanks to Carlos Lopez from CLR Motorsports for this awsome engine pakage he has put together. And a big Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Al Delrisco From BMF Racing for all his fabrication and technical ideas that have made it possible to have this project become a reality. It is going to need that much oil cooling? Damn real nice and clean though.

What kind of dyno numbers did you pull?

Great Job! |
the more oil cooling, the better.
track cars have far greater cooling system demands than street cars, I don't think that's overkill. maybe close though, those ARE pretty big :P |
Even if it pulls 300+ whp on the dyno, I'm sure it will be peaky. If not, I will seriously consider dumping my single turbo to go 13B PP! Please post the dyno when you can.

PP's can make any where from 270 up to 350 depending on a few variables. Keep in mind that the 350 figure will come from an engine that shifts at 11k (pure drag engine). Very very peaky with virtually no REAL streetability in the low to mid range. It all depends on what you want out of the engine. |
Thank you. I want a nice streetable 300 hp NA engine. That means 20B, I guess.

LETS SEE THE DYNO NUMBERS!! -Ben |
one thing that caught my eye was the full metal pipe from engine to radiator... i would think that any engine movement or vibration will break that pipe and destroy your pretty new engine in a hurry

Rob,
If you don't mind, where did you get the hatch and the rear window? It's been in my "to do list" for some time... cheers and here are the Carbon Fiber Hood and Hatch. Attachment 719099 Attachment 719100 I have the FAL Poly carb rear window on the way and it should be here by mid next week. I should also have the brakes in by Friday.[/QUOTE] |
The hatch was purchased on e-bay. you may have to do a good search for anyone who carries it or you may have to call to see if they have one on the way from outside the country, your best bet is to pay for it so that it secures that you will get it when they get here. my friend has been trying to find a CF hatch for his project now for almost 6 months. as for the Poly rear window, its made by FAL who are the same people who make flexalite fans. go to summit racing and get thier number there then call them for a price and a local dealer. i paid about 215.00 for mine but i heard they have gone up quite a bit since then.
|
I bought my rear hatch from VIS racing, they had it in stock.
3 days delivery. I bought also the FAL from Summit;delivery took almost 2 months. I bought windshield and side passenger Lexan from HRP World. |
wow, that's crazy! Nice work.
|
looks awsome .great work
|
sick looking car.
|
great work man...clean and to the point:icon_tup:
|
Awesome build. One Q. What is that ribbed box that your oil runs through before the coolers? On the right side of the motor in the pics.

Track Car

Finally Got the car to the Track!!!
Yes... I know its been a while since ive been on and thanks for all the comments and responses guys!!. We finally got the car out to Homestead on September 7th for the FARA event. It was a rough beginning on saturday morning with leaking issues and a couple other small problems but we got it figured out and my partner Al and I where able to qualify the car on pole for the qualifying race on sunday. I drove the qualifying race on sunday and while in 1st place in the 4th lap we cracked a header. Causing us to qualify in last place for the race. you will see in the video that even starting in last place that car jumped 5 spots before turn one. and by lap 5 we where already in 1st place and ahead of about 3 MP2 cars. my partner spun out cause of an issue with the brakes and in the second half of the race i was able to make up 1 lap and we ended up in 3rd place. not bad for a first time shake down weekend. we will be making some changes to the car and will be out there for the next even on December 23rd. Again i want to thank my Partner in crime AL, for helping me make this project come to life. if it werent for him and his shop, this would not have been possible. I also want to thank CLR (Carlos Lopez) for building this kick ass engine for my car. awsome job!!!!! see for yourself in the video.
again, thanks!! congrats........:icon_tup: :icon_tup: :icon_tup:

very sexy!!!!!!! i thought you ditched the project...lol
|
That looks like one hell of a time.
Still, what power is that car making and how much do you think it weighs? |
car weighs about 2300 and makes 251 to the wheels right now. we need to make a couple more adjustments and add the intake stacks. we should be able to make somewhere close to 280rwhp. the torque we dont know yet cause the dyno we went to didnt measure rpm correctly

Looking good :-)
|
nice !!!. one suggestion. put a air box for your PP engine. not just gain more HP on the engine(RAM air). also help protect engine.... IN CA... most of track are build in desert.. so is very easy to suck in those thing into the engine.....
|
^+1, run an airbox with a proper filter. Those screens won't properly protect the engine from grit and they disrupt the airflow into the engine and will also be providing some restriction. It's better to have a real filter further away.
|
i don't know if you will have the room but if you do...
remove the carb/injector airhorns. fixture an 1/8th inch aluminum baseplate bolt the airhorns back on. find the largest airfilter you can fit.... i stacked 2 in my airbox but had more room than you do. build an alum airbox around them w a plate on top removable w dzuz fasteners. plumb a couple of 3 inch air lines into the box. you absolutely need the airfilter and what you have is restrictive. also i don't understand the power steering on a 2300 pound racecar. i like your adj brake bais/pedal arrangement, an absolute necessity for going fast. good luck, howard coleman |
Beautifull car man,..youve done a great job with it!
When is the next FARA event? It seems like they didnt have anything elese planned untill the end of the year. I was thinking of taking my car out to run with them sometime, but with nothing planned.... |
