79 with auto but want a 4 or 5 speed

I have a completely stock 79 rx7 and I am new to rotary's. I am very knowledgeable in stock car racing and sprint car racing. I want to race this car with scca and still drive on the street. My problem is that it is an auto and i want a stick. whats the cheapest and easiest way of completing this project?

thanks for any help

Go over to the first gen section and

1) Read the FAQ
2) search that forum for "transmission conversion"

Here a link to a couple postings on the topic:

Also - when you say "race this car" are you talking about Auto-X, Time-trials or door-to-door Club Racing? The changes you will have to make to turn the car into a competitive track car will make it pretty miserable to drive on the street. And a little unsafe - driving a car with a full cage(required for Club Racing) w/o wearing a helmet is never a Good Idea.
