ChitownR1 - anyone else dealt w/him?

Actually he said HIMSELF it was him. Can't get any more proof than that.
I have no idea why you keep tryin' to stand up for ChitownR1 after all this garbage He also apparently hasn't settled up all his dealings with past forum transactions and that doesn't seem to bother you either.

Here's my update:
I received another $100 on Tuesday, 1/30/07.
So that's $200 back total, still waiting on the other $420. Far as I'm concerned, this particular deal isn't resolved until I get ALL the $ back, but I am a patient person. Would love to get it all in one lump sum since I'm using this money to finish up my FD project that's been on hold forever, but I guess we'll see. I'm not really sure why it's taking so long.

Has anyone heard from ChitownR1 lately? I am still waiting for my 3rd (and hopefully) final refund, have sent several messages via IM and heard nothing back. I was promised another $100 last weekend, and another $200 soon after, but saw nothing.

I'm new to this thread, and really wish I would have seen it prior to doing business with chitownR1 (or as I know him, midwestbest.net). Or as others may know him - Chris Hill (or respectcs@gmail.com).
On the phone he seems like a nice enough guy. He gave me a line that he was trying to improve his rep on the forums due to the irresponsibility of his 'people' - essentially saying that all the negative press about him in the forums is due to his people not following through. He guaranteed me that this transaction would be smooth because HE, not his people, would be doing everything.
My story goes something like this (all can be verified through e-mails and PMs):
We agree to a trade - My EVO-R lights ($475) for some parts (Spoiler $150, Gauge Cover & Hood $75, and FG Feed Side Skirts $250). He asks that I send my lights the next day with a tracking number. He didn’t have the side skirts but was going to order them for me at his discounted dealer rate, so he wanted proof that I actually sent the lights. I hesitate, but not having seen this thread, I send my lights the next day. He gets them 3 days later.
Two weeks pass… I receive nothing, I hear nothing… Eventually, I get him to give me a tracking number for the spoiler. The tracking number turns out to be completely made up. Another week passes and I finally get him on the phone. He says he’ll ship the spoiler out tomorrow. I say, “Wait, so you admit you haven’t sent it?... So where did the tracking number come from?” His response? “My ‘people’ told me they sent it out and gave me that tracking number” WTF!!!? Who are these ‘people’ anyway? And why are you using them after you said you wouldn’t?
Another week passes and he agrees to refund me $150 via paypal for the spoiler since he wasn’t going to send it. I got the money that day (thank god).
As of today, I’m still waiting on the side skirts and gauge cover and hood. He’s been telling me for two weeks that he sent the side skirts. But today I got a message hinting at the fact that they haven’t been sent yet.
He did try to send me a gauge cover, but his ‘people’ sent me the wrong part – a carbon fiber covered gauge cover. I wanted a black one, not carbon fiber (well documented in our conversations). I tell him about the mistake and he says his ‘people’ got it mixed up and that the carbon fiber cover was supposed to go to someone else. I tell him that I’ve had enough and to just paypal me the remaining balance for the lights - $325. I told him I would send the carbon fiber gauge cover back the next day and that he’d have it within 3 days.
Now he’s come back to me saying “Why would I send you $325 on your word that you’ll send me the carbon fiber gauge cover back?” WHY? I’ll tell you why… I stick to my word, I always have. That’s why I’m in this ridiculous situation with you now. Plus, I don’t have a need for it. My car has black plastic. It would look stupid!!! Is that enough reasons?
Bottom line is that over a month has past and all I have to show for sending him my brand new EVO-R lights is $150. He still owes me $325 - which I'll be glad to take in cash or in parts (side skirts and gauge cover).
Hopefully, this deal comes to an agreeable solution. For now, I felt it important to warn others about the way this guy does business. I'm not sure how someone like this is allowed to do business on the site. Isn't there some way to prevent it? Or is that the purpose of the "Good guy, Bad Guy" forum. Of course, all he has to do is change his user-name again. Uhhg.

I'm still waiting on the rest of my refund. It's now approaching the 3 month mark since all this BS started. I was promised another payment this weekend, but so far haven't seen anything. What a surprise.

I'm still waiting on my money - $325 to be exact. Going on 2 months now for me.
Been lied to several times... Every time he e-mails me he says I'll pay you today or tomorrow. Of course, he never does...

Yep, that's happened with me at least 3 times. It's now past the 3 month mark for me. At least you get email replies, I think I've received 3 in 3 months. Most times I have to use AIM, and then it's like a 20:1 ratio, my inquiries to his responses.

you know...it's funny to hear in all these threads about all these rx-7 members paying these low-life's a visit...but it never happens. SOMEBODY PAY THIS GUY A VISIT ALREADY AND TELL US HOW IT WENT!

To do what? Get arrested for trespassing? Assault? Yeah...THAT'LL get their **** straight.
Anyone who does that that's not directly involved is just asking for trouble and making the situation worse than it already is.
