Does FC Edit need a certain version of Windows? Will it run on 7? 8.1? 10?

I've got an old macbook I was going to run bootcamp XP on but I can't seem to get my old copy to validate. If I buy a new cheapie Windows laptop or even just a copy of Windows it will obviously be newer than XP. I'm just trying to avoid compatibility issues bc running FC Edit will be basically all I use this machine for.

Side question: best cheap tuning laptop/tablet? Looks like there are $175 Win 10 laptops now...
