Weird symptoms...can't even describe
Alright, so i've been adressing boost creep issues and using the sensor sheck screen.
Well while i was on the interstate, i noticed that the HWL switch was blinking but my actual overheat exhaust light wasn't blinking. So after getting home, i did some looking and research, and found it isn't always on like at idle and when the car is off but ignition is ON the overheat exhaust light is ON, so it works. But while researching i read that if the light turns on a sensor has malfunctioned and it should show the malfuntioning sensor but nothing shows to be malfuctioning.
Now while looking through everything, i found that the Function Select had the O2 feedback control was off but the Knock and Injector warning are on. Well my car has hit 100% duty cycle a few times and knocks over 60 all the time (i'm still in the process of checking for a bad knock sensor), but i never have seen the CEL come on.
Here's what i need to know:
Why isn't the Overheat Exhaust Light illuminating when it flashes on the Commander?
Which of the Function Select's should be ON/OFF?
Why isn't my CEL illuminating when it should?
Thanks....

Here's what i need to know:
Q1:Why isn't the Overheat Exhaust Light illuminating when it flashes on the Commander?
A1: No answer, try the fix that makes it run the CEL. This was posted on this forum.
Q2: Which of the Function Select's should be ON/OFF?
A2: NONE, it is "your" choice for your engine setup and desires.
Read page 36 of the manual.
#1 ON if you are running seq stock turbos. OFF for non-seq or single is standard.
#2 useless as you can not see the light anyway.
#3 same as #2. Go back to A1.
#4 ON if you have a working air pump and stock or very lightly modded engine,
OFF if you want to fine tune your idle and cruise AFRs leaner than 14.7.
#5 ON for idle timing control which really does not seem to make any difference.
OFF as it does not make any difference so let the ECU use it's power for more important duties.
Q3: Why isn't my CEL illuminating when it should?
A3: The PFC does not drive it for problems like the stock ecu did. Due to US and Nippon differences. If you do the mod to make the CEL work, then it will blink for knock and INJ DC if they are turned on. I did the mod but only have the KNOCK switch on as I am single turbo.
Read about the CEL mod to learn more about how thing work.
