Storing with no battery to PFC

I heard a rumor that if you unhook your battery or remove your PFC for a period of time it will lose all its stored data and go dormant... Thus meaning retune when it is hooked back up...
Is this true?
I'm putting my car away and want to unhook the battery because it just keeps dying after a few weeks because of my alarm light, But I dont want to lose all my maps...

Thanks for any feedback guys

ya dont worry about it. the pfc uses non-volatile flash memory kinda like a cf card. No need for a battery
