starting problem when engine is hot.

hello!

i have a newbuild full bridge engine, and i have big problems getting it to start when its hot. no problem when its cold... starts fine up to 50-60degree celsius. over that and the engine wount start, but runs really fine when its running..

got a power fc, 850/1600 and 2xwalboros. have tryed to lean it out and richen it up, but no reaction. it started fine on this map when hot last year, only difference is the bridgeport..

any ideas? have tried the cranking ms, but no responce...

regards,stig

Thumbs down

I do not know how the thumbs down got there and I can't remove it???

Might be the timing.
What is the 60C retard in Settings 4 for the Ignition vs Water Temp Cool?
If not 0, then the PFC is retarding timing when cool. When it warms up, no more retard. Use the Commander IGT/IGL/INJ
to adjust the timing when hot and see which starts better.

It is plug and play!

how many miles are on it? hot start problems are not uncommon on new engines, or at least on 2nd gens they aren't uncommon.

the engine has done 200km now,so its not broken in jet....

I'd give it some time first. On a new engine with used rotor housings, it will take a little while to build compression.

I have a few questions for cewrx7r1

1) Is the "Settings 4 - Ignition vs Water Temp Cool" there to prevent knocking during warm up?

2) Could you use "Settings 4 - Ignition vs Water Temp" (which is for retard at high temps) to give some retard at say 100 deg C? My car it drives around between 83 & 94 deg C... but when I make a short stop its over 100 deg C, right at start up, but quickly drops back to the normal range.

3)Can you clarify "Use te Commander IGT/IGL/INJ "?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And my comments
I had the same issue, and still do to a much lesser degree... what helped was lowering the water temps by, reparing crushed fins on the oil & water radiators, tunning it for proper IGL/T & AFRs, and properly setting the idle adjustments ... cewrx7r1's notes are a must have for this tunning. As I look back, I think my origional timing was to advanced for my porting, causing higher temps. Also, using plugs that are not to cold, helped with hot start.
