so what's the consensus on the base mod timing maps?

Is ithe timing t too advanced or conservative for dp, mp, cb, ic, and intake? I did a search and I'm getting a feeling it's a conservative map so you won't blow your motor but I read a few threads where they say it's advanced? It's definitely more conservative then the base stock timing maps. Thanks for the input.

My read on the "consenus":

Timing it just one part of what may or not blow your engine. Looking at just this one part is not going to yield a definitive answer.

If you are asking can you START with the timing in the 5.08 base map to further tune your car in with a wide-band, you should be okay...since you're monitoring your car's AFR, knock, duty, temps, etc.

If you are asking that running a/any basemap is going to be safe without tuning it, the answer is that most people have been safe and others have not been. It depends on your mods, boost, gas, etc.

I ran the 7.07 base map on my car for an extended period of time with all the BPUs. I put down 317 @ 10psi on stock engine and turbos. When I got my WB O2 hooked I also saw alot of lean spots in the middle of the map, and overly rich on the top end. Tuning the car just a little bit gave me 337rwhp @ 11.8psi.

The the basemap timing alone is not going to guarantee anything about being safe.

Do yourself a favor and get a WB 02 or get the car baseline tuned by someone who has one.
