Rough idle..Possible cure for some??
I have a streetport w/ about 7K on it, and most street ported engines will have a bit of a loppy idle. My engine has continuously gotten a worse idle over the past few weeks, and would want to stall w/ the A/C turned on, or cooling fan coming on. I figured the worse, with compression to fouling plugs, a PFC problem. I hadn't a clue..
I noticed the air filters were getting a bit blackened from venting the BOV to atmosphere. So I put two and two together and cleaned out the throttle body w/ carb spray, making sure to get into the air screw hole and any other small ports. I fired it up and it purred like a kitten, well minus the usual ported idle. Actually the idle was a bit higher after cleaning, a minor adjust took care of that. So, keep in mind, the problem isn't always the worse case sinerio. I thought I'd share my quick fix, hopefully it helps someone out. Peace out!

Is it a pop or a backfire?? Any flamage w/ this backfire?? Are you perhaps just running a really rich idle?? I know mine lets out a few blue flames at night with it idling. You may have a timing issue or too much fuel, it's hard to say.. Are you tuned or running base maps??

I am running PFC base maps right now, but I believe the car did it even prior to the PFC. It is more like little pops, no flamage. It does it a lot worse when the car is warming up, once the car is warmed up it only does it every five seconds or so. Leaning out the idle doesn't seem to help it at all.
