Question regarding PFC and referenced sensors

I'm new to this whole FD/PFC thing. I recently rebuilt the engine in my FD and got the PFC tuned once the break-in was completed...after the tune, I noticed that the idle would start hunting at 89+ degrees Celsius. it's irritating because not only is it hunting, but it feels like the PFC is changing the timing or something. Sometimes, it'll stick at 90+ degrees until I shut the car off and turn it back on, which then the PFC reads below 87 degrees, subsequently halting the idle hunt.

What would cause this? Which sensor is the PFC referencing?

I have this feeling that it's a combination of a setting in the PFC and the sensor possibly going bad.

Any suggestions?

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/how-make-your-untuned-pfc-basemap-safer-idle-better-no-datalogit-needed-841706/ start with that, it discusses the idle issue some and how to adjust a TB screw to hopefully help. When the PFC switches the fan on (which could be at 90 C depending on your setup), the electrical load indicator goes on in the PFC (even if you unplug the ELD computer interestingly enough). The PFC then targets the "E/L" idle speed in settings 1 of the PFC.

Without the ELD on, base leading timing is -5 BTDC. With the ELD on, base leading timing advances to around 5 or 6 BTDC. If you have idle ignition control on it will fluctuate around those numbers in an attempt to smooth the idle out. You need to reduce idle air by adjusting the TB, then perform the idle learn procedure again (make sure you save your map).
