Problems with Power FC HELP PLEASE!!

Hey guys I am posting this for a friend.

We just got his power FC from Japan with has already been prechipped by AP Engineering with the harness adapter from the fd 8bit to the FC harness.

With the stock ecu the car runs great as he is pretty close to stock. However, when he plugs in the Power FC he runs so rich at idle that the car won't even start 9/10. Ofcourse we have already reset the Power FC to run the original basemap thinking someone had modded the map.

Any help,

Alex

that 1/ 10 times it actually does crank what did you do different? if anything. are you pumping the pedal, pulling the plugs, etc....

if it's just a matter of it being too rich then go in to the map and pull fuel from idle. most likely going to be in the n2p5/ n2p6 area. also what is your timing set at?

or just go in to the cranking map and pull some fuel... also check the water temp correction tables.

have you given the car a chance to completely warm up with the pfc and see how it does?

i had the same problem. base map was really off. I'm assuming you are using a speed density map sensor and FD AIT (air intake temp) sensor? Did you set the PFC so it knows what map sensor to read?

The answer for the setting depends on what type of MAP sensor you are using (for example stock FD MAP sensor or an Apex one). I'll have to double check my settings but if you search in the PFC forum for my posts I think I posted it before for the stock FD sensor.

The boost kit came with the ECU, so gonna install the new MAP sensor from Apexi, than gonna go shopping for the FD air temp sensor. Don't happen to have the part # on hand do you?

If you're using the Apex 3 bar map sensor I believe you'll have to use change the PIM function to 2 or 3. My memory is fuzzy but I remember setting mine to PIM1 for the FD map sensor. You should refer to the PFC instruction manual.

Dont know the FD AIT p/n offhand but you should know that it is not critical in getting the car running. The air temp on the commander will read way off but it wont stop you from driving but will screw with some of the compensations IIRC.
