Pre 95 PFC on a post 95 harness (single turbo)

I understand the PFC for the RX7 comes in pre-95, 95-2000 and post 2000 versions. I have now the opportunity to purchase a pre-95 PFC for cheap and would like to know whether this will fit my 96 engine running a single turbo. Would I be right to assume the ECUs for the pre-95 and 95-2000 are substantially the same save for the sequential turbo control system which I can see is vastly different between pre-95 and post 95 engines?

Thanks

Michael

I don't think that it will work with a '96 rx7. At some point they upgraded to a 16-bit ecu which was either in '96 or '98. If it was '98 you may be able to do it but maybe I'm not the right person to answer your question anyway.

Also i thought the difference of ecu's went from pre '96, to '96-'98, then '98+

In 96 mazda went to the 16bit ecu, but that is not the problem so much as it uses a different connector.
