power fc problems

I baught my car with the motor out. I got a remaned motor and put it in the car, for the last week I have been fighting with the wiring harness. I fixed all the plugs and now the car will start up fine with the stock ecu, but when I try to start it with the power fc it tries to start then dies. I called some of my friends with fd's and they said to reset it. I tried that and no change. Help!!

In the absence of any other information,if you have a commander you can check the cranking injection time.(p32 FC commander instruction book)

Not every PowerFC works on an FD, i think there are three different PFC depending on the year, when your FD was built.
Maybe thats the problem?

It says in your sig you have a T78. What fuel system do you have? Have you set up the injectors? What MAP sensor do you have? If you think it's just going to start and idle with a setup that is radically different from a stock car you've got a lot of reading to do. You have to make a decision. Do you want to learn a lot about the Power FC and tune it yourself? Or would you prefer not to deal with that really? The problem is, your setup sounds pretty modified. It's not easy to get the car running "ok" without a datalogit and some knowledge, and if you have an aftermarket MAP sensor (and I would hope you do with such a big turbo) the car won't even run without you spending hundreds of dollars to get the PFC set up correctly. There is no shortcut with a big single setup.

Words of wisdom. I was thinking the same thing.. If it was a stock trim car I could see a few minor values being inappropriate but based on the upgrades, you might need to dive in a little deeper to your PowerFC knowledge base to get it setup to run properly.

This site is your friend, i've found many an answer on here using search. There are large turbo maps available on here, you may try one of those to get it running, but get it tuned for your setup immediately!

Thanks guys for all the input, but I was unaware that the map sensor is bolted up near the break booster I thought it was the piece under intake manifold. I borrowed a friends and the car runs fine.

For right now I am only planning on running 4 to 6 lbs of boost. Do you think I will be okay running a factory map sensor or is there an after market one you guys would recommend? Do you think the power FC factory tune will be adequate to drive the car on or do I need to tune it? I have factory injectors in it right now and a stage 3 ported Gotham engine, the t78, power fc, front mount, hks cat-back. I have knowledge in tuning but very new to rotarys. Sorry for newbee questions but I have already done alot of reading and just need some reasurance. Thanks!

it will drive ok, just don't boost it until you get a fuel system. the factory MAP sensor is ok up to 17psi, but at 17psi a T78 is barely breathing. It's a turbo that needs race gas or alcohol injection so you can get it working in its efficient boost area. Plus you better have an enormous wastegate with a small spring (not likely) to be able to boost 7psi on a turbo like that.

Basically, your setup is very poorly engineered right now and if you don't learn a lot more about what's necessary for a reliable FD on a single turbo setup you will blow your **** up.
