NJ Power FC lost its tune and need help with best options available

Hello All,

I purchased my Rx7 from someone that originally had a tune performed on the vehicle. During the winter I was in the process of modifying the car so I had the battery unplugged for a long duration. Come Spring time the car was put back together but wouldn't start with the Power FC ECU, even after selecting base map the car wouldn't turn over (no smell of gas as well). I have since been driving the car with the stock ECU plugged in. I'm curious to know what options would be available to try and get the previous tune? or is the data lost and I should just have the car re-tuned? Any hep would be much appreciated.

1993 Rx7, R1

The Power FC can't lose it's tune unless there is some kind of damage to it. You need a datalogit to pull the map off it.

If it didn't start there could be a lot of reasons for that.

Selecting the base map--> all data Init means you ditched the tune already on it. So no, you can't get that back. It really should be tuned from scratch, you don't know what that guy did.

You did not mention if this tuned PFC car actually was running fine before you started modifying it.
If it was, then you hosed the car while modifying it.
If it wasn't, then a problem might have already been there as a bad PFC.

For proper analysis, all the facts must be presented in a scientific manor.

You can initialize the PFC back to the basemap without a datalogit. I did it when I bought my PFC from some guy with a single turbo.

If you've done so and your semi-stock FD wont start, then it may be a bad PFC. How old is it? Check out the serial number on it.

Here's an old post:

Each version essentially has a pre-tuned map on it that is used for the specific year it was created for. The newer the version, the better the base map for a stock FD.
Like RX72Heaven stated there are new things each one is tuned for.

Yes, the PFC + Commander will let you tune your car to accommodate your specific mods, just make sure you have this professionally done.

Dale Clark posted a very knowledgeable thread about the PFC. Read it thoroughly.

You're in New Jersey. Why don't you go to Irperformance to have it retuned specifically to what you have?
